Earlier this year, Jet Blue was one of the companies to receive the 2009 AIGA Corporate Leadership Award. Awarded to companies that the American Institute of Graphic Arts feels have been instrumental in advancing design by applying it in the highest forms as a matter of policy, the recognition comes as vindication for Jet Blue’s years of commitment to embracing good design as a part of their corporate culture.
We hope that Jet Blue sees this as a cue that they’re on the right track and that they will continue to push the boundaries of corporate design in America. Utilizing great design not only for its aesthetic value, but as a means to interact with and service their client base better is part of the reason why they are so deserving of this award.
From the website design, to billboards, television, and even the design painted on their planes, Jet Blue’s approach to great design has been universal and a very active part of their success. In our opinion, other companies would be wise to take a page from their playbook and see what forward thinking design can do for them. At Urban Geko, we’re always up for a challenge and would love to help a high-profile company, like Jet Blue, refresh their look and maybe win a few awards along the way!
